Jewel of South – Day 3 | The Walk to the Crown – Reclaiming the Pride of the Bride

Hello Reader,

I am delighted to share a deeply personal moment from Jewel of South – Day 3 | The Walk to the Crown.

🌸 Round 1 – Heritage in Saree | Silk Saree Round
“Reclaiming the Pride of the Bride”

Twenty years ago, I wore this saree as a young bride.

I was stepping into a new chapter of my life and making a choice that was different from what my parents had envisioned for me.

I chose love.
I chose a family.
I chose a life that was mine to live.

Yet, for years, a part of me carried the weight of wondering whether I had disappointed the people I loved most.

Today, I wore that same wedding silk saree again — but this time with pride, joy, gratitude and freedom.

This saree is not just a piece of clothing. It carries the story of the young woman I was, the choices I made, the family I embraced, and the woman I have become.

Today, I am reclaiming the pride of that bride and gently letting go of any shame or guilt I may have carried about choosing a family from a tribal community.

I honour my in-laws, their people, their culture, their traditions and their heritage — a family and community that became an important part of my journey and contributed to shaping the woman I am today.

Twenty years later, I don't look back at that young bride with regret.

I look at her with love.
I honour her courage.
I celebrate her choice.

And as I walk towards the crown, I carry her with me — not as the bride who disappointed anyone, but as the woman who dared to choose her own path.

A special and heartfelt acknowledgement to Shakir Sir and his incredible team — Adi, Vijaya and Naveen — for mentoring us, training us and helping us own the stage with style, confidence and presence.

You didn't just teach us how to walk a stage. You taught us to stand tall, believe in ourselves, and own our stories.

I am deeply grateful for your guidance, encouragement, and the confidence you have instilled in each of us. ❤️

I would love your support as I continue this Jewel of South journey.

Please watch, share, and celebrate this story with me. If it resonates with you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that it is never too late to honour the choices that shaped who we are.

My saree.
My story.
My roots.
My choice.
My pride.

With gratitude,

Ranjini Sanjay
